The Hauraki Rail Trail is regarded as the easiest riding trail in New Zealand and a fun way to explore the our spectacular scenery and landscapes with the whole family.
The trail is altogether 82km long and follows the path of two historic railway lines. It meanders from the panoramic Thames coastline through picturesque rural farmland, the magestic Karangahake gorge and the historical gold mining towns of the area.
The trail divided into three sections linking Thames-Paeroa, Paeroa-Te Aroha Paeroa-Waikino each designed to be an easy day trip. A new path currently underway will link the gold mining towns of Waikino and Waihi.
Bottle Park Lodge sits right on the junction of all three sections, with trail right across the road, so it is the perfect base to begin and end your adventure each day. If you are travelling, bike hire and guided rides are available too. All the info you need can be found at www.haurakirailtrail.co.nz
